LandMark mid range prestained protein marker(all blue) is a mixture of purified and prestained proteins whose molecular weights are well-known. It is available in a ready-to-use formula (no need to boil before use), and is suitable for sizing proteins between 15,000 and 140,000 Da by SDS-PAGE. A blue chromophore is covalently bound to proteins, and 8 prestained proteins are visible during electrophoresis or electrophoretic transfer from the gel to a membrane. Because coupling of chromophore to the proteins affects their apparent molecular weights in SDS-PAGE relative to unstained proteins, the prestained protein molecular weight standard should only be used to determine an approximate size molecular weight. The size of prestained standard is calibrated against unstained standard. The unbound free form of chromophore is also visible below the gly/Cl- boundary in discontinuous SDS-PAGE gel.
